What services does Stear Moving Company provide?
Local moves, including residential and commercial, but also loading, unloading, packing, unpacking, storage, hoisting, cleaning, as well as interstate moves of any size and complexity, you name it all
Can you handle my X job?
Absolutely. We can handle everything that comes to mind, except the most challenging of items like subzero freezers. We can even move grand pianos
What areas do you serve?
We cover the entirety of the city of Los Angeles and the county, as well as all counties adjacent to it. And don’t forget about interstate!
Do you offer long-distance moving services?
Totally
Are your movers trained and insured?
They are, and we really spent and keep dedicating much time to making sure any potential new team member is qualified enough, we have our tests for that. Likewise, the insurance is also there, there’s nothing we cannot offer
Pricing & Payment
How are your moving costs calculated?
The base is our hourly rate, which is complemented by any fees applicable to any particular case. All fees, even those only probable, are explained to you this way or the other, so you’ll always know what you’re singing up for
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes, they are indeed free. The process is simple and the quoting after it is convenient – we shape up the result and send you an email with explanations
Are there any hidden fees or charges?
We do not follow such malicious practices
What forms of payment do you accept?
They can be banknote cash or credit/debit cards
Do you require a deposit to secure a booking?
Yes, we charge a commitment fee necessary to reserve the slot. The move is as soon as the fee is submitted
Scheduling & Planning
How far in advance should I book my move?
Like always the case with moving services, we recommend at least two weeks ahead. The hotter the season or day, the further ahead we suggest to schedule
Can I reschedule or cancel my move?
You easily can, we offer available substitute slots on different days that could work for you, provided a given day is still available. Cancellations can be made any time at least a day ahead, and we keep the reservation fee
Do you offer same-day or last-minute moving services?
Yes, we do! We help when and who we can, and understand people who ended up in tricky circumstances
What happens if my moving date changes unexpectedly?
You can benefit from the ease of rescheduling with us. It’s hassle-free!
Do you provide packing and unpacking services?
Yes, we are movers and specialize in careful and efficient packing. Unpacking takes less time if the boxes were initially packed with labels of particular rooms and/or places. We do not unpack your most personal belongings and clothes
Packing & Preparation
Will you provide packing materials, or do I need to supply my own?
We provide packing supplies during the move and will help use them up! If you’d like to start packing on your own before our arrival, the supplies have to be yours
What items cannot be moved?
Not many, like subzero fridges or some other extremes. Other than that, we do not transport saves with guns inside, chemicals, flammables, spoilables, house pet litters and the like
Can you disassemble and reassemble furniture?
We surely can, we know normal residential furniture building inside out. For some of more intricate items we may need a manual, please keep it handy
How should I prepare my belongings before the movers arrive?
The movers know how to handle the furniture, but we need to know where to move it, so you can help with sticky notes or labels, and you could do some of the furniture protection and packing by yourself. Just don’t do anything you’re not confident about, it’s better to leave it to professionals
What steps should I take to protect fragile or valuable items?
You can use packing paper or bubble wrap if you have any and some box, or prepare a TV box for that favourite flat screen of yours. Even if you do not do any of it, we can handle it by ourselves just fine
Moving Day
What should I expect on moving day?
Moving could seem stressful, but it’s really not with our help. Once we arrive, be sure to know what goes and what stays, let the movers know of your preferences and you can safely leave the rest to them. It’s that simple
Will I be able to track the moving truck during transit?
The movers will keep contact with you and can share their coordinates at any given point of time, it’s our complete transparency
How many movers will be assigned to my move?
The amount of men will depend on the size of the move and any challenging items. Our support team will help you pick what is just right for you, and our very experienced estimators will evaluate your place with perfection
How long does the moving process typically take?
It depends on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, your readiness to the move (how organized the place is, labels, boxes, the knowledge of what goes where), the amount of items per square footage, how far away we park, any traffic on the way, elevators, stairs etc. Regardless of the complexity, we ensure you get the most efficiency for the price and complete moves as fast and careful as it’s physically feasible
What happens if the weather is bad on moving day?
We protect the furniture and items adequately against rain or other conditions, so none of our clients have experienced issues with this thus far
Specialized Services
Do you move pianos, antiques, or other specialty items?
Sure, even grand pianos! Even up the stairs! Our men are skilled at handing difficult items and make sure you get those at your destination without a scratch
Can you help with office relocations?
Yes, we can, and we have more than several business we cooperate with on a regular, or semi-regular basis. We are trusted for our efficiency, transparent pricing and reliability
Do you offer storage options if my new home isn’t ready?
We do. The availability varies though, so please make sure to follow-up on our availability somewhat in advance
Can you move large or bulky items like safes or gym equipment?
Those are not an exception, almost anything that is residential or related to being residential (and is permitted for household movers), can be moved
Do you offer senior relocation services?
Yes, we can also wear masks if required by the facility. Nothing needs to be moved or packed by our seniors, we’ve got your back!
Insurance & Liability
Is my property covered by insurance during the move?
We are insured for $2,000,000 general liability and thus qualify for the absolute majority of businesses and households. Your items are safe and sound, including the insurance coverage
What happens if something gets damaged during the move?
It doesn’t happen often, but if it does, insurance claims can be opened, or we can settle the dispute with the customer directly. We are proud of the fact that none of our clients have been dissatisfied with us
Do I need to purchase additional insurance coverage?
You can always have multiple insurances of your own, although we do not offer the service of purchasing them through us.
Who is responsible if there are delays or damages?
Delays can happen for a number of reasons, including the building not opening the apartment, or the movers hitting traffic, or the client being late to meet and let the movers in. For all those circumstances and more, we are always open to a dialogue, you will not be mistreated if something is our fault.
Can you move my belongings if I’m not present?
Surely! Your presense at the start point is not mandatory, as long as the movers will be let in and get access to the items prompty, as well as clear instructions from the customer.
Post-Move Questions
Do you help with furniture placement and setup?
Once everything has been moved, we reassemble the furniture pieces and put them to their rightful places, so you may not get involved in reassembly if you don’t want to
What should I do if I notice damage after the move?
Any damage done to the furniture, must be inspected during or at the end of the move. Please make sure to acknowledge if everything is okay prior to closing the contract. If you spot any damage, please notify the office immediately by phone or email, make sure to send the photos or videos of damages for our team to analyze the case. After this we will be reaching out to you with a proposal on how to proceed.
Can I leave a review or provide feedback about my experience?
Anyone has the right for feedback on their experiences, be it online or by contacting the office, we would be glad for you to share your positive experience with us, just like we learn from any negatives and further improve our quality service.
Do you offer discounts for repeat customers or referrals?
Returning customers have a 5% discount off the total, the same discount receive the active-duty military and veterans. Only one applies at a time
How can I get in touch with customer service after my move?
It’s the same place you booked with – our office! Our agents are not only adept at assisting you in picking what is right for your move, but also support you through any questions you might need help with
Sustainability & Safety
Do you use eco-friendly packing materials?
Our boxes are made of cardboard, which is fully recycleable, although some other supplies are made of plastic and its derivatives, so we may not guarantee that all of them are eco-friendly. For those especially concerned, we can offer to use as little plastic supplies as possible, which retaining the blankets and/or boxes and packing paper
How do you ensure safety during the move?
The heavy items’ position in a truck is fixed with straps, the others are situated in-between and around the bulkiest of them, this minimizes the risk of pressure against each other and helps us with “tetris skills”, as our customers say
What precautions do you take for COVID-19 or other health concerns?
We can use face masks and gloves when it’s entirely necessary, although we suggest against shoe covers, as those makes steps more slippery and thus prone to accidents. Instead of shoe covers, we suggest the specialized film laid upon the floors, or carpet protection for extra cost
